Applying for Citizenship?
The Processing time for Citizenship can take up to 12 months.
To be eligible to become a Canadian Citizen:
- Are you a Permanent Resident?
- Have you lived in Canada at least 3 years of the last 5 years?
- If applicable, have you filed your taxes?
- Have you passed your citizenship exam? (ages 18-54)
The Exam will cover the following:
History
Geography
Economy
Government
Laws
Symbols
Have you test your language skills (ages 18-54) Scoring at least a CLB 4 and above?
Spouses:
Same requirements are applied to spouses who marry a Canadian Citizen.
You do not automatically become a citizen marrying a Canadian.
You must be a Permanent Resident before applying to become a Canadian Citizen. You must have been at least physically present in Canada 1095 days during your 5 years period before you start your application.
